Pair killed in crash on A48 in Lydney named locally
A man and a woman from Lydney who were killed in a car crash on a ‘notorious’ stretch of the A48 in the Gloucestershire town on Friday have been named locally as The victims, named locally as Tania Manka and Shayne Witts.

Mr Witts, 29, and Ms Manka, 46, both from Lydney, died at the scene in their Peugeot, while a 72-year-old woman in the other car, a Mitsubishi, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries and remains in a serious condition.

Storm to hit South West as River Severn remains on flood alert
More storms with heavy rain and winds of up to 80mph are headed for the West Country this evening, raising fears of more flooding, as the River Severn at Tewkesbury remains on flood alert.

Temperatures are again expected to fall well below freezing in places tonight, prompting to add an ice warning to a severe weather warning already issued by the Met Office. The South West, Wales and the south of England are expected to be worst hit.

Heavy rain leaves A361 flooded between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe
PATCHES of road between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe have been reported as flooded this morning.

The A361 was reported to have been flooded at around 6.30am following heavy rainfall overnight in the area.

The road remained open, as the flooding was said the be patchy, however BBC Travel Southwest warned motorists to take care when travelling on the road.

The road was reported to have been cleared at around 8am.
