Bristol's Plimsoll Bridge could cost millions to repair
Fixing Plimsoll Bridge could cost millions, Bristol Mayor George Ferguson has said.
The bridge for vehicles that crosses the Cumberland Basin, was opened on Tuesday afternoon to allow a yacht through but then could not be shut.
That caused traffic chaos, with normally short journeys taking hours.
It was cranked back into place by hand in time for Wednesday morning’s rush hour, but is now closed until it can be repaired properly.

Four people have died in three days on the region’s roads.A motorist was killed and the M5 was shut yesterday evening after a crash on the northbound carriageway in Devon between junctions 27, for Tiverton, and 26, for Wellington, in Somerset.The closure came after a serious accident shortly before 4pm.
