Heavy rain causes landslip near Stroud
Heavy rain has caused a landslip near Stroud and a road closure on the B4058 from Nailsworth to Horsley Road.
Gloucestershire Highways is investigating the site, which has already been the subject of some corrective work this year.
It has been affected by some surface water on the road, which has had to be temporarily closed while further investigations are carried out.
Highways crews have placed sandbags on the road to protect the properties below from debris sliding down the embankment….

Business groups have called for tolls on the Severn bridges to be slashed after they pass into public ownership.A number of groups have come together to urge that the tolls should be no greater than the cost of maintaining the bridges because of the drain on the local economy – on both the English and the Welsh sides of the Severn.The tolls go up again on January 1 which means cars will have to pay £6.40 – an increase of 20p each time they cross the bridge.Small goods vehicles…

Congestion tackled at busy road junction
Rush hour congestion at Weston-super-Mare’s motorway junction has eased following a £15 million package of road improvements. New traffic lights have been installed on the motorway junction as part of the Weston Package scheme, which is now in its final phase. It was hoped that improvements could continue by turning on all the permanent lights at the junction by Christmas, but the complexity of the multi-junction has led engineering crews to delay the switch-on.
