Container with ELEVEN MILLION cigarettes washes up on Devon coast…
A huge shipping container with as many as 11 million cigarettes inside has washed up on the Lyme Bay coast this morning – but police are warning any wreckers ‘looking for free fags’ to stay well away.
Officers have cordoned off the beach near Beer, Devon, where the 40ft long Maersk shipping container was floating in shallow water, and could be left aground in the high tide this lunchtime.
It contains 14 tonnes of cigarettes and the container was one of a reported 517 to be washed off a cargo…

Roads remain closed but better news on the trains for travellers
One day to go to the weekend and just one more difficult journey if you are heading into Bath this morning.
Emergency repairs are still being carried out on the A431 Kelston Road because of subsidence with no date yet for it to re-open.
The B3110 Midford through is also still shut for emergency repairs following a landslip.
There are no major problems to report elsewhere on the roads this morning with just slow moving traffic at the usual hotspots.

Its the bane of many a Wiltshire motorist and now the M4 has put an end to one of the most impressive streaks in lower league football journalism. David Tavener, who writes for the St Albans and Harpenden Review, had covered 1,633 consecutive St Albans City games – over an incredible 29 years. That streak was ended last Saturday when a breakdown on the M4 left him unable to reach Bideford AFC in North Devon in time for kick-off. To add salt into his wounds St Albans lost one-nil.
