New DVLA car tax rules come into force in April 2017, and you…
You could end up forking out a lot more money every year when new DVLA car tax rules come into force in three months’ time.

The proposals, announced by George Osborne two years ago, will see some car models costing hundreds of pounds more to tax each year.

The new laws will come into force in April, and only hydrogen and electric cars will be exempt.

Why the change?

The structure as it stands at the moment, introduced in 2001, is based on Carbon Dioxide bands.
