A crucial railway line through the West has finally been restored as the region begins a ten-day countdown to the grand re-opening ahead of the Easter break.

Engineers have filled and concreted over the giant crater, which was so dramatically scooped out by powerful waves seven weeks ago, devastating Dawlish station and halting direct services.

Michael Eavis to start Tour of Wessex
GLASTONBURY Festival Founder Michael Eavis will officially start this year’s Tour of Wessex.

The tour, one of the biggest multi-stage cyclosportive events in the world is being sponsored by inward investment organisation Into Somerset.

Mr Eavis will open the event and the cyclists will be led out by another Somerset ambassador, the Ariel Atom, one of the fastest and most highly regarded sports cars in the world, made in Crewkerne.
