A road has been closed in a market town after a car crash on a bridge led to debris falling onto a lane below.

Police were called at around 7.10am this morning (November 8) when a Vauxhall Astra crashed into Waterloo Bridge in Shepton Mallet.

Officers found the collision had caused significant damage and knocked debris onto a road underneath the bridge.
