As tens of thousands prepare to descend on Glastonbury for the start of the festival season, a new survey reveals that many of us don’t have a clue about how to pitch a tent.

One in five of those questioned weren’t even sure what the term ‘pitch’ means. More than a quarter were unaware of what a guy-rope is, while a third hadn’t even heard of a bed roll.
