Bath on flood standby after night of high winds and rain
Bath has been on a flooding knife-edge tonight as river levels rose and roads were closed.
Police tonight shut Lower Bristol Road as the key route became submerged by floodwater.
With Pulteney Weir hidden under surging water, council chiefs are keeping a close eye on the River Avon.
But hopes were growing that the city had avoided a major crisis, after river levels peaked around an hour ago.
