Tractor speed limits to be lifted to 25mph on rural roads
The speed limit for conventional tractors could be increased to 25mph from early next year, a rise of 5mph.The planned move is aimed at making farms more productive and at cutting the “nuisance” of traffic queues on rural roads. Modern tractors are capable of driving at far higher speeds and pulling heavier loads than those used at the time when the original limits were set in 1986. Tractors are theoretically allowed to drive at up to 40mph, as detailed in the Road Traffic Regulation Act….
