Bristol animation giant Aardman unveils its latest character today, a dog called Horace teaching road safety – and there are hopes it will be as popular as Tufty the squirrel and the Green Cross Code Man.
The stablemate for famous duo Wallace and Gromit will highlight a road safety competition run by the RAC and Government in which children will be asked to create their own short animated films to communicate key road safety messages.

Drivers could face soaring tolls on Clifton Suspension Bridge under government plans to let operators charge what they like, without consultation. Proposals by roads minister Robert Goodwill aim to simplify the process of increasing fees for 11 private tollowners, including the famous Bristol landmark. Yeovil motorcyclist dies in crash near Somerton
A motorcyclist from Yeovil has died following a collision on near Somerton, Somerset, on Sunday evening.
The victim, a 54-year-old from Yeovil, was travelling towards Yeovil on the B3151 at Midney when he was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van travelling in the opposite direction at 6.50pm. The motorcyclist later died at Yeovil District Hospital.
An investigation is taking place and witnesses are asked to call police on 101.
