Dawlish railway to reopen 2 weeks earlier than planned
The railway line at Dawlish in Devon, badly damaged when the sea wall was breached in the recent storms, is to reopen almost two weeks earlier than planned.
After first saying it hoped the coast-hugging line would be repaired around mid-March, Network Rail (NR) put back the proposed reopening date to mid-April following further damage from the severe storm on St Valentine’s Day.
But NR has now been able to announce a reopening date of Friday April 4, meaning the line, a key link to the far south…
