A crucial road connecting the towns of Somerton and Street is set to be made safer for both motorists and pedestrians.
The B3151 via Compton Dundon has been an accident black spot in south Somerset, with 135 crashes and five deaths on the road over a 15-year-period.
The twisty road, which includes steep hills and a sharp bend at Stock Elm, was also the site of a hit-and-run incident last week involving a 4×4 and a pedestrian.
