Villages near Swindon fear summer of traffic misery
Villages near Swindon are anticipating a big traffic headache when roadworks close a major A road for seven weeks this summer. Oxfordshire County Council is closing the A420 at Shrivenhan, near the MoD’s Defence Academy from July 21, to carry out roadworks. Surrounding villages fear they will be overrun, as 17,000-20,000 vehicles per day use other routes rather than the main road between Swindon and Oxford.
