POLICE are grateful to motorists who continue to suffer the inconvenience of a continuing, severe closure of the M5 today.

A lorry overturned on the southbound carriageway between junction 19 Portishead and 20 Clevedon before 7am. Its load spilled over and across the northbound carriageway, forcing a full closure.

The current situation: Two lanes are closed and traffic continues to queue over four miles on the M5 southbound between J19 A369 (Portishead) and J20 B3133 (Clevedon).
