UPDATE: 11.45am: All lanes have now reopened s/bound J23 – J24 near Bridgwater after an earlier accident however long delays remain.

11.00am: Commuters in the West Country are facing delays as the M5 southbound in Somerset is closed following a serious accident involving two cars.
The M5 is closed and queueing traffic southbound between J23, A39 (Bridgwater North) and J24, A38 (Bridgwater South).

Bristol's new 20mph zones come into force today
Hundreds more signs warning motorists not to exceed 20mph Bristol come into force today.
New 20mph zones are now in force in Cotham, Hotwells, Bishopston, Clifton, Redland and the city centre.
Around 1,030 signs have been put up between to make drivers aware of the new limit.
The roll-out coincides with five months of major works on the St James Barton roundabout in a bid to make it a gateway to the city.
