Bristol cyclist Ed Cox is celebrating today after he completed a nine-month, 14,000-mile journey from Bristol to Brisbane, planned “on a whim”.

Mr Cox, 26, crossed the finish line, after thousands of miles on the road and nights spent under the stars, to a welcoming party of his parents and long-term girlfriend Lavinia.

Thousands ignore city bus gate restriction
Around 8,000 people – one every three minutes – have been caught breaking the rules of Bath’s newest bus gate – which bans cars, vans, lorries and bikes travelling eastbound along the Dorchester Street between 10am and 6pm seven days a week – since it was launched two months ago. The A431 remains closed at Kelston but there are no other problems thus far.
On the railways, the 7.08am to Gloucester is delayed but other services from Bath Spa station appear to be on time.
