Resort cycling plans divides opinion
Proposals to give cyclists more rights on a busy pedestrian area of Bournemouth have sparked debate. A trial lifting restrictions on cyclists riding on Bournemouth Square and across Pier Approach is planned. Bournemouth Borough Council’s transport project manager Richard Pinnegar said it wanted to become a bike-friendly town and similar schemes had been trialled elsewhere. It has the fourth highest bike accident rate in England.
